Der ehemalige Prozess, den Apfelwein zu kosten und ihn in Flaschen abzufüllen, ist heute zu einem gastronomischen Fest geworden. Zu dieser Jahreszeit öffnen viele Apfelweinkellereien ihre Türe, um ein typisches Menü bestehend aus Kabeljau-Omelett, Kabeljau mit Paprika, T-bone Steak, Käse mit Quitte und Nüssen und leckerem Apfelwein zu bedienen. Typisch für die Apfelweinkellereien ist es, den Apfelwein stehend zu trinken, trotzdem gibt es Orte, wo dieser Tradition nicht bewährt wird. Der Tradition nach, wenn die Person, die sich um die Öffnung der Fässer kümmert, ein neues öffnet, schreit sie den Gästen am Tisch den Zuruf Txotx!. Dann nähern sie sich dem Fass, um selbst ihre Gläser zu füllen. Die kupelas befinden sich normalerweise in Räumen, die beim Esszimmer liegen.

Es gibt ungefähr 70 Apfelweinkellereien, die in 24 Ortschaften verteilt sind. Die Mehrheit von ihnen befinden sich in Astigarraga, Hernani, Usurbil und Urnieta, obwohl wir Apfelweinkellereien in anderen Gemeinden Gipuzkoas und sogar in Biskaya und Alava finden können. Heutzutage sind viele die Familien und Freunde, die während der Apfelweinsaison an dieser Tradition gern teilnehmen.

Aktivitäten in Astigarraga

Astigarraga veranstaltete am 13. Januar den Sagardo Berriaren Eguna (Tag des neuen Apfelweins). Wie auch in den vergangenen Jahren fand die Eröffnung des txotx im Apfelweinlokal Petritegi statt, wo die Mannschaft Real Sociedad das erste Fass mit dem Ausruf Gure Sagardo Berria (Unser neuer Apfelwein) anstach. Im Jahre 2009 war der Pilotaspieler Aimar Olaizola mit der Ausführung dieser Aufgabe betraut.

Aktivitäten in Hernani

Der Startschuss für die Apfelweinsaison fand am 17. Januar in Hernani mit der Teilnahme der baskischen Schauspielering Aizpea Goenaga statt.

Die Steilwände des Flyschs  zwischen Deba und Zumaia sind eine der beeindruckendsten Gegenden der baskischen Küste. Immer mehr Besucher werden ob der zerklüfteten Schönheit des ebenfalls als Rasa Mareal bekannten Gebietes in Erstaunen versetzt. Nun haben die Gemeinderäte von Zumaia, Mutriku und Deba eine Vereinigung für das Management des so genannten “Geoparks der baskischen Küste” ins Leben gerufen, der sich schon bald weitere Gemeinden der Provinz Gipuzkoa wie Getaria, Zestoa, Azkoitia, Azpeitia und Elgoibar anschließen könnten. Diese Vereinigung wird eine Bewerbung für die Aufnahme des Gebietes Rasa Mareal sowie dessen Umgebung beim Europäischen Netzwerk der Geoparks  einreichen.

Nach der Definition der UNESCO handelt es sich bei einem Geopark um einen Ort, der durch seine wissenschaftliche Bedeutung, seine Einzigartigkeit, und seinen ästhetischen sowie didaktischen Wert gekennzeichnet ist. Die Jury des Europäischen Netzwerks der Geoparks wird die endgültige Entscheidung über die Aufnahme Ende 2010 treffen. Auf dem alten Kontinent existieren derzeit über dreißig Geoparks; Orte von großem landschaftlichen Reichtum, deren Besuch sich auf jeden Fall lohnt.

Das Baskenland gehört heutzutage zu den Autonomen Gemeinschaften Spaniens mit einer höchsten Anzahl von Betrieben mit Qualitätbezeichnung “Q für touristische Qualität”: insgesamt 268 Betriebe, u.a. Restaurants, Reiseagenturen, Tourismusbüros, Unterkünfte, Kongresspaläste und Kurorte. Die Baskische Regierung hat kürzlich durch Basquetour -die Baskische Agentur für Tourismus- eine neue Werbekampagne gestartet, um die touristische Qualität zu fördern, welche bis Dezember dauern wird. Diese Initiative wendet sich an die allgemeine Gesellschaft und die Fachleute des touristischen Sektors. Ziel ist es, die Anerkennung derjenigen Betriebe mit “Q” zu erhöhen und dass Unternehmer sich für diese Programms interessieren.

Um die Q für Touristische Qualität bekannt zu geben, wird eine intensive Werbeaktion gestartet, die sich aus verschiedenen Fernsehspots auf Baskisch und Spanisch zusammensetzt. Die baskischen Journalisten Xavier Euskitze und Ana Urrutia spielen die Hauptrolle bei den Spots. Außerdem werden den Fachleute die Vorteile dieser Qualitätsbezeichnung erklärt. Die Qualitätsbezeichnung Q für Touristische Qualität erzielt, die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit zwischen den baskischen Firmen im Bereich Tourismus zu verbessern.

Weiteres Ziel dieser Kampagne ist es, dem allgemeinen Publikum das Programm Guter Praktiken

Die baskischen Köche, die an der Initiative teilgenommen haben

Das Museum Musikhuset in Aarhus bot zwischen dem 04. und 08. November eine weitere Veranstaltung des Wettbewerbs “Taste the Art”, die eine interessante Verschmelzung von Kunst, Musik und Gastronomie zeigte. Die baskischen Köche Bixente Muñoz (Bar Gran Sol in Hondarribia), Pantxo Bedialauneta (Bar Cantábrico in Ondarroa) sowie José Ramón Elizondo und Conchita Bereciartua (Bar Aloña Berri in San Sebastián) waren dort zu Gast;

Während des Eröffnungstages am 04. November bauten die Köche vor den Augen zahlreicher angesehener Persönlichkeiten (wie die dänische Ministerin für Ernährung) einen Tresen mit köstlichen pintxos auf. In den darauf folgenden Tagen boten sie Vorträge und präsentierten der Öffentlichkeit ihre originellen Kreationen, wobei sie die Pintxo-Kultur allen im Museum Musikhuset in Aarhus versammelten Besuchern nahe brachten. Zum erfolgreichen Abschluss ihrer Teilnahme bereiteten die baskischen Köche die Vorspeisen des Festbanketts zu, das mit den Speisen der nationalen dänischen Köche seinen Abschluss fand.

Hervorzuheben ist, dass sie während dieser Veranstaltung auch die Bewerbung für “Donostia 2016″  bekannt gaben, mit der beabsichtigt wird, San Sebastián  (eng mit der Welt der pintxos  verbunden) zur europäischen Kulturhauptstadt zu machen.

Der Termin ist vom 5. bis 7. Oktober. Innovative und qualitätvolle Produkte werden wieder einmal ausgestellt und eine Vielfalt paralleler Aktivitäten werden ebenfalls veranstaltet. Organisatoren erwarten den Erfolg der ersten Messe, welche im Jahre 2007 stattfand.

Einer der Höhepunkte bei Foccus Bilbao ist die Gelegenheit, an Ort und Stelle die Arbeit renommierter Fachleute im Sektor zu beobachten. In diesem Fall werden Fernando Canales (Restaurant Etxanobe, Bilbao), Pedro und Marcos Morán (Vater und Sohn, welche am Restaurant Casa Gerardo in Asturien arbeiten) und Patxi Eceiza des Vitorias Restaurants Zaldiaran dem Publikum ihre Fähigkeiten beim Kochen zeigen. Alle, welche Michelin-Sterne erhalten haben, werden das sogenannte “Menü Foccus” zubereiten. Es handelt sich um eine außergewöhnliche Chance, um die Geheimnisse weltberühmter Köche herauszufinden.

Wie in vorherigen Jahren  ermöglicht uns die Zuggesellschaft FEVE wieder einmal, eine interessante Rundfahrt mit einem alten Zug durch die Regionen Las Encartaciones und Zona Minera zu machen, um nicht nur ihre schönsten Ecken zu entdecken, sondern auch, um ihre besondere Gastronomie zu genießen. Auf diese Weise holt der sogenannte Zug Tren del Cadagua ihre Passagiere an den 19. und 26. September und 3. und 10. Oktober in Bilbao ab und bringt sie zum Bahnhof in Bercedo (Burgos). Danach besuchen sie Medina de Pomar (auch in der Provinz Burgos) und fahren sie nach Balmaseda zurück, wo sie das typische Gericht putxera (Bohnen mit Speck, Paprikawurst und Blutwurst) schmecken können. Zudem sind sie eingeladen, an einer Führung durch das Museum der Baskenmützen La Encartada teilzunehmen. Abfahrt in Bilbao findet um 9:15 Uhr statt und Rückfahrt um 20:00 Uhr.
