The Hotel Montíboli, one of the most established luxury hotels Costa Blanca, which first opened its door in the 1960´s, will close on the 16th October for 6 months to carry out one of the most important refurbishment programmes in its history.

Amongst the improvements, the chain will incorporate a new spa which will crown one of its terraces, some of the most classic rooms will change and the restaurant will be reformed, even the gardens will be re-landscaped according to explanations given by Jose Maria Caballé, president of the Servigroup chain to which the hotel belongs.

Situated overlooking a cliff top in the suburb of Villajoyosa from which the hotel took its name, the Montiboli has 85 rooms, of which 47 are doubles, 9 junior suites, 2 suites and 4 bungalow next to some Arabic style gardens.

The decision to close has been taken in order to improve what we offer and compete in the market, that of those with high disposable income, affected by the economic crisis.  Currently tourist that choose 5 star hotels, are limited, “ from here we need to be the most competitive possible” stressed José María Caballé.

The Hotel Montiboli, signature hotel of the Servigroup hotel chain, leader in the Valencian Region and with head office in Benidorm, received this summer the award “Top 10 Playa” (Top 10 beach), which included the 10 best resort luxury hotels in the country..

On Sunday 5th April the Hotel Montíboli in Villajoyosa inaugurates an exhibition from the Glenia gallery in Madrid which will remain until the month of May. It will include a selection of works from the artists Carlos Orive, Laura Corrales, Diana Giménez and Romero Britto.

This initiative shows the hotel´s interest for the art world and culture and forms part of the activities included within the theme of “cultural” Montiboli, initiated last year by the Hotel Montiboli to celebrates its 40th anniversary

This same year the hotel signed an agreement of collaboration with the Miguel Hernández University, to carry out exhibitions and future cultural events during the year at the hotel. Currently the hotel is hosting the exhibition  “Poètica dels Objetes”  from the Miguel Hernández University in Elche, which illustrates the artistic creativity of the students of Urban Paintings from the Fine arts faculty in Altea, inaugurated on the 13th March and will remain on display until el 30 de April.

Carlos Orive.
Multidisciplinary artist, painter and photographer, experienced in techniques where the materials used are the direct protagonists. He exhibits regularly in galleries all over Spain, and has taken part in exhibitions in Holland and Sweden

Laura Corrales.
The colours of the Mediterranean appear in the works of the this Valencian artist, whose works are radiated by light. She has exhibited recently in  Zaragoza, Orense, Valencia and Haro.

Diana Giménez
Diana passes from engraving to painting with ease, imitating collage in her compositions in which we see windows which convert onlooker to curious spectators. She exhibits regularly in Spanish galleries as well as Argentinean ones and has recently exhibited at the prestigious fair, Art Madrid

Romero Britto.
We incorporate 3 silks screen prints by Romero Britto, Brazilian artist living in Miami who is currently the leading exponent of the pop art world.
